Chinese social media company Bitdance has announced the closure of its business in India. Restrictions are on the services of this company which owns the Tik-Tok and Halo app in India. In an email sent to employees, Ticketock's global interim chief Vanessa Papus and vice president of global business solutions Blake Chandler explained the company's decision that it was reducing the size of the team and the decision would affect all employees in India.
Officials expressed uncertainty over the company's return to India but said it remains expected to happen in the coming time. The email says, "We do not know when we will return to India, we are relying on our flexibility and wish to do so in the coming time.
According to a bytendance source, the company held a town hall on Wednesday, where it told about the closure of India's business. When contacted by the spokesperson of The Ticketok in this regard, he said that the company has been consistently following the order of the Government of India issued on 29th June 2020.
Let us say that it was reported recently that the 59 apps, including Tickettalk, which were left in the first phase, are no longer going to return to India. The government has banned 59 mobile apps like TikTok, WeChat, and UC Browser forever. This has been reported from the sources of the Ministry of Information Technology.
After the left on the apps, the government had questioned these companies about data collection and storage, which were answered by these companies but the government is not satisfied with the response of the companies. The ministry has also sent a notice to these companies last week.
