Calling from Jio on all networks will cost-free, no IUC minutes

Calling from Jio on all networks will cost-free, not IUC minutes

If you are a Reliance Jio customer, the company has brought good news to you on the new year.

Now users will not have to spend separate IUC minutes for calling on any network from Reliance Jio.

That means calling on all networks from Jio will now be free.

Earlier, the only Jio was getting free calling on the Jio network and users had to spend IUC minutes to call the non-Jio number.

Free calling on all networks

Like the rest of the companies, Reliance Jio's customers will now be able to make free calling without paying any additional fees.

Earlier Reliance Jio was taking interconnect user charges (IUC) from its users.

From January 1, 2021, companies will not have to give interconnect user charges to each other, giving the benefit to their users.

Jio was the only company whose customers had to pay IUC charges (as minutes).

So free calls

The bill and funnel system on behalf of the telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has been implemented from 1st January, 2021, thus eliminating interconnect user charges, Jio said.

The company informed that due to the end of IUC, Jio will provide free service on all networks for calling across the country from January 1, 2021.

Jio-on-net calling on the Jio network can be free as before.

What does Interconnect User Charges (IUC) mean?

When calling from one network to another, the caller company gave interconnect user charges to the company that received the call.

For example, if a Jio user called Airtel user, in lieu of this call, Jio Airtel was given interconnect user charges.

Now TRAI has scrapped the system and companies will not have to pay any interconnect user charges instead of calling.

Jio was getting the damage Being free calling and the largest userbase to users, Reliance Geo was giving a large amount of interconnecting user charges to other companies like Airtel, Vodafone and BSNL.

With the ever-increasing pressure, Jio started taking the same charges (later as minutes) from its customers.

Jio then promised that users would be able to make free calling on all networks as soon as the interconnect user charges were over.

What will change for you?

Jio users received IUC minutes with each recharge, which could be spent for calling on non-Jio networks. Now you will be able to call for free without any minute limit on the rest of the networks like the Jio network from Jio.
